There is a wide list of attractions in Jerusalem that can’t be missed if you decide to visit this beautiful land.The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is the site where Jesus was crucifiexed,buried and resurrected ,buit by Emperor Constantine in 335.The church was damaged during the years but consistent repair work has been done in order to preserve this saint location.In the Old City it is found the Temple Mount,a place of a great importance for Muslims,Christians and Jews.In the Temple Mount there can be found The Islamic Museum and Al Aqsa Mosque,two also important places to visit.The place has a huge religious importance because it is supposed to house an impressive collection of Korans and Islamic relics.It is also the main point of praying for Jewish.For the Christians,the Temple Mount represents the place where Abraham offered for sacrifice to his son, Isaac.Known under the name of Via Dolorosa,or the Way of Cross, this route attracts thousands of tourists every year because this was the way Jesus carried his Cross,when he went to crucifixion.The road has 14 stations,each one of them commemorating major events from that day.
The Israel Art Museum is a place where you can see well preserved remarkable collections of archeology ,contemporary art and a famous collection of Dead Sea Scrolls,dating from the 3rd century before Christ,which draw 950 000 visitors every year.The Citadel was built in the first century before Christ and served for many centuries as a well positioned defence to the Old City.Inside the Citadel there is the the Museum of the History of Jerusalem where there are revealed 4000 years of traditions from the past.If you go in the tallest tower of the Citadel,called The Phasael,you can see the whole magnificient view of the Old City and all the surrounding area.A place that commemorates the Holocaust and its victims is the Yad VaShem.The museum provides numerous documents from that time and pictures or film with stories from the victims who survived the Holocause.These are only some places to visit in the amazing Jerusalem ,but it will be a pleasure to discover all of them once you get there.
